Default shooting water from vent tube

Appliance Parts from AppliancePartPros.com

I have a whirlpool 810 unit. During one of the wash cycles it shoots water out of the air vent tube. I think this could be a default fail safe mode thing. I fix cars for a living. I have fixed washers and refrigerators before. I'm sure I can fix this too. I just need to know were to start looking. thanx... special ED
