I have a 10 yr old free standing Kenmore ice maker. I have just replaced the water valve because no water was flowing through the old valve. Can somebody tell me what activates the solenoid on the water valve? The pump is running but no water is running into the reservoir that the pump feeds from. Exactly what makes the water begin to flow and what causes the valve to shut off? Maybe I am not waiting long enough for everything to cool down. I wondered if the valve was temp controlled.

Thanks,

Jack
