ice maker won`t shut off

ice maker won`t shut off

I have a whirlpool side by side. Only have one complaint/question. As the ice bin fills up, the cubes just pile up all around the wire,instead of pushing it up to shut off unit. Can`t figure it out, know it is not the worst thing that could happen. Thanks in advance for your help.
