Garbage Disposer Repair

I woke up to find my dispoal only hums. I looked down the sink and it seems to be jammed with some stuff. I tried clearing it a bit, but not too sure if I should put my hand down there (I happen to like my fingers). I tried the reset switch but it does not click. Any Advice would be awesome.

In the center of the bottom plate is a hole for a special wrench which comes together with a garbage disposal. You can unjam the garbage disposal using this wrench.

I just got finished doing that and it worked.

if you have a plunger you can use the wooden handle to try to get the plate to spin. the motion is like mopping the floor. one hand at the end the other about midway. Most disposals come with a wrench that looks like a smashed z. It fits in the bottom and is way easier if you can find it.
