My disposal is locked and the reset button does not release it. I have a tool for the disposal (a "Z" like tool??) but I cannot find how this might help. Any suggestions? thank you ~

Hey Dianne, you should be able to look underneath the disposer and in the exact center locate where the tool can be inserted to manually move the disposer motor in either direction and hopefully dislodge whatever it is that has it locked up... Be mindful not to energize the disposer with this tool inserted in place and especially careful if you have to fish around inside the disposer to remove the culprit... cheers, kooler

Dianne, I have used a old broom handle in the past to gently tap the fins inside the unit. Try tapping both directions and this should free whatever is blocking the unit from working.Remember to do this with the unit off and never, ever insert your hands into the disposer!
