My husband broke a dish and it jammed the disposal. I unplugged the disposal and loosened the blades through the bottom portal with the wrench & pushed the reset button. Still jammed. Did it all again but now when I try to plug it in the plug sparks. Time for a new disposal?

If you're plugging it in with the switch turned on, it's just induction - electricity bridging the gap between your plug and receptacle. A motor is an inductive load so it will draw a small arc when you plug it in with the switch turned on. You've probably got your disposal problm solved by now but I just joined today and wanted to explain what the sparking probably was.
