Model Number: GFC 400 01 Brand: GE Age: 5 - 10 years
Every expert I've talked to assures me the allen wrench solution is the way to go in general garbage disposal troubleshooting. BUT... I have looked up & down on this unit and have yet to find the "female" slot for the wrench.. just a smooth round bottom plate with a tiny screw head in the middle. I found the red re-set button (on the side- didn't help the issue) and I'm not the original owner, & bought my own allen wrench. Does anyone know if this is the super rare case where the wrench solution is not applicable? Or other solutions?

GE Garbage Disposals do not use the "Allen Wrench" system.
The "Allen Wrench" system is used by In-Sink-Erator Garbage Disposals. The allen wrench is used to tighten and loosen the disposal unit to the sink flange. The allen wrench is also put into a slot in the bottom of the In-Sink-Erator unit to turn it in order to help free any jams. |
