Our Broan compactor jammed last night in mid-cycle of compacting the trash. The unit can be removed from underneath the counter so there it no problem with getting the unit out. Once the unit it removed it the area what shall we do to get it unjammed? If plugged in and operating it hums as though the cycle is not finished. Thanks, Denise

Remove the rear cover and, using an adjustable wrench, rotate the large nut to lift up the ram and release the container.
