Hi - I have a KitchenAid Microwave that starts-stops when turned on. Sometimes it's worst then others. Heating is fine when it's on, but the starting/stopping in pulses can take 2-3 minutes for a 1 minute cycle. Display is no longer working now and reads "--". Used to blink/flash the time, but was also losing time over a period of weeks.

From reading some of the other post, it seems that a control panel connection may be lose. Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance,

Microwave: like normal but no change in temp.

Whoops! - Red in the face at the moment! - Sooooo sorry about that!
I should have done this before posting, not after!
I searched the forum for 'Microwave no heat' and got a lot of helpful info!
Seems, worst case scenario, it's the magnatron or the the control board, best case a sticky switch.

So, Gene, in hoping for the best but being prepared for the worst, are either or both of those parts available from AppliancePartsPros, for a Hotpoint Model R VM44 004 (http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/modelsearch.aspx?model=R%20VM44%20004)? I do very well with computers however I don't do 'high voltage' so I'll have my brother-in-law do the Ohm stuff!
====================================================================
Hi,

My first post! I just purchased a pump for my Maytag Dishwasher (from AppliancePartsPros) and then the Hotpoint Microwave goes on the fritz! Not that it shouldn't take a break; it's been working fine since 1984!

Seems to be functioning normally (except for sound effects!) however there no change in temp of whatever I've tried to defrost, cook or warm.

Any advice? Rather pay a bit extra to fix it than send it off on it's 10,000 year journey of metamorphosis!

Thanks in advance!

What i am asking because when i look at this part you can clearly see that the part is split in two places it obviously needs to be repalced i found a similar part on another board that looks the same thank you for taking the time to fig out my question.....J&J's Appliances

GE Profile Spacemaker XL1400 has the features to have Surface Lights and Nite Lights that illuminate the range top below the Microwave unit. Last week the Surface Lights feature was selected and the light were ON. No other microwave feature was in use. Suddenly the light on the right side went out, followed by a "pop" and the light on the left side went out.

ALL other functions on the key pad and microwave are working, EXCEPT the Surface Lights and the Nite Lights that illuminates the range surface below will not turn on when the selection is made on the Key Pad. I have replaced both the light bulbs...that is not the problem.

I have looked at the parts diagram but do not have an electrical diagram to determine if there is a separate circuit, fuse, etc. that provides current to the light bulbs.

Any suggestions?

I realize that at the 10-year point the best course of action may be a new unit; however, everything except the two incandescent light bulb circuit is working perfectly. The only suggestion I get from the local appliance store, other than buy a new microwave, is to get halogen "pucks" to put under the microwave to use as surface lights.

Hi,
I'm new to this forum and have ZERO familiarity with the inner workings of microwaves. My microwave doesn't always heat the food. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't...unpredictable. The light, turntable, power, buttons, and fan all seem to work fine. Any ideas on which part is going out and if I can replace it? Would really appreciate any help I can get :)

The lights (Cooktop/Night and Oven) doesn't turn on, the turn-table doesn't spin, and the fan is not coming on. The LCD display comes on and I am able to set the time and set cooking times but when it starts a different hum comes on and it does heat the drinks and the top vent usually Swings open but doesn't.
I replaced the 3 halogen bulbs( 2 Cooktop/Night bulbs was burned out but the Oven wasn't but replaced it anyways) and still doesn't turn on. I checked the 2 fuses and the 3 switches(Door Sense, Monitor, and Primary) using an ohmmeter and works fine.

What should I do next or what part do I need to replace or repair

Thanks

Dear Gene,

Several weeks ago (September) I posted about my GE profile microwave going "on" when I opened the door - the light comes on and the turntable goes around. You said it's probably a faulty door switch. I got the generic replacement part you recommended and that fixed it! But a few weeks later - it's doing it again! Was it maybe a faulty door switch part? Should I get the GE part rather than the generic? Or just another generic and try again? Please help! I really appreciate your advice and time Gene,

Thank you, Claudia

Runs normal, except does not heat food. I browsed your database, isolated issue to be with magnatron tube, removed cover and followed instructions to ground out capacitor..

Found docs on box detailing with a flowchart on how to troubleshoot issues. according to their chart magantron tube is ok: checked continutity on F to FA connectors of tube, not open. Per chart, issue is with capacitor or diode?????? how can i can check diode??????? I also checked diode for continutity, is open, but do not know if this the correct way of checking diode???

Pls assist On:

1: Diode
2: Capacitor
3: Magnatron tube: Ok or still maybe defective....

I know diode & cap, is small items to replace.

thx...
