I'm guessing the timer is telling the heat to cycle off when it shouldn't.
The motor circuit and the heater circuits usually use different timer contacts.
Could be the timer cam/switches are messed up and that is your problem.

Am I right?
Cannot say for sure

Should I replace the timer?
If all you did was fiddle with the timer and it came on then it is probably the problem.
