Model Number: LEQ8611PW1 Brand: Whirlpool Age: 5 - 10 years
[FONT='Verdana','sans-serif']I have a Whirlpool Dryer that is 5 years old. Last night, 30 minutes after putting in a load to dry, there was a load WHUNK! It stopped working. The motor does not make any noise at all (as if it were unplugged). There was no burning smell, motor or electrical. Nothing. We opened it up and noticed the long thin belt that wraps around the drum is broke. But, I wonder if it is just the belt since the motor doesn't make any noise what-so-ever. The model is: LEQ8611PW1. Could it be just the belt or are we looking at something even more costly?

Here are your parts
Replacement parts for WHIRLPOOL LEQ8611PW1 27"electric Dryer | AppliancePartsPros.com The odds are very high that it is just the belt. This unit has a broken belt switch (Item 5 in Section 2) that kills power to the unit when the belt breaks.

After many hours of tinkering with it, that's what my husband came up with, too. Being the good wife I am (my husband is rolling his eyes) I felt the need to double check. Darn it all, he's right. We (ahem, my husband) is grateful to have a second opinion on that especially from someone who knows dryers. THANK YOU! You've put my mind to rest, encouraged my husband, and we are thrilled to find such a wonderful site that helps with questions (not only helps, but knows their stuff - that's almost unheard of these days).
You Rock! Thank you! Quote:
