Timer Issues/Gas Dryer

Brand: Whirlpool Age: 5 - 10 years

I first had problems with timer only working correctly on timed drying...would not progress to stop on "heavy dry" or "light dry" option. Now timer doesn't seem to function at all...dryer runs, but little or no heat and as I mentioned... won't shut off unless I open the door.
