Timer will not stop running

Model Number: 110.97374200 73742 Brand: Kenmore Age: 5 - 10 years

I have a 70 series extra capacity gas dryer. The dryer does everything it should,starts,runs,dries clothes, But when a cylce is done the dryer shuts off but the timer continues to run and the dryer restarts by itself and runs thru all cycles if you don't open the door. Can you advise as to were I should start troubleshooting
