Dryer heating and ignitor problems
I have been using this forum as a guide for the last few weeks to troubleshoot various heating issues I have encountered on my Kenmore gas dryer (Model: 11072932100, Serial: ML3708543). I'm not sure how old it is, it was here when we moved in. Here is a quick summary of what I have done so far.
Dryer stopped heating------>thermal fuse was open, lots of lint
Replaced fuse, removed lint-------> had heat for 4-5 loads and lost it
Checked thermal fuse again-------->had continuity
Checked thermistor-------->tested within specifications
Checked High Limit Thermostat -------> had continuity at room temp
Checked Flame Sensor ------->had continuity at room temp
Checked Heater Relay-------> open when dryer off, closed when dryer on(as expected)
Checked Coil Resistances------>Hold/Assist coil Resistance was outside spec tolerance
Replaced Both Coils -------> still no heat
Checked Igniter-------->Igniter cracked
Replaced Igniter(per enclosed instructions) ------> had heat for 2-3 loads and new Igniter Cracked
This is where I am stuck at. I would like to think that I received a faulty igniter, but I fear there is some other underlying cause here that would cause me to just be wasting my money on another igniter. I don't think it matters, but when I installed the new igniter, I had to use the old bracket, since the one included with the new one wasn't threaded properly. I'm running out of ideas and any help you guys could offer would be greatly appreciated.
