I have a whirlpool dryer I purchased from rent-a-center a little over a year ago. The dryer will heat but the drum will not turn. I check with whirlpool who states the belt may need to be replaced.

Part # Part number: 341241
Part number: 341241
. How do you install this part? and could this be the only issue. Do not have money to replace the dryer or to do much rebuilding.

If the drum will turn easily by hand then the belt is the issue, and it is certainly easy enough to find out if that is the problem.

Take out the lint filter and the two screws under the top of it that hold the top the dryer. Then use a screw driver inserted in the gap between the top and the front near each edge to "pop" up the top, which will then flip up on hinges.

You can now see the drum, and see if there is a belt around. If not replace the belt, and see the instructions and photos on this site.
