Default Noisy dryer
Model Number: DE500ADW1   Brand: White-Westinghouse   Age: 5 - 10 years

Hello My dryer has been squealing for about two weeks, and now it's making a metal to metal noise like worn brake pads making contact with rotors, willing to tackle the problem not sure if it's a bearing, belt or pulley, and does anyone if these parts are avail in a kit.
Thanks in advance

Hi Davyd,

Remove the front panel and check the glides (#34 on the door break down diagram).

Remove the drum and check the rear bearing (#13 on the cabinet break down diagram).

Here are the break down diagrams for the White Westinghouse dryer Model DE500ADW5 (model similar to yours).

Gene.

Davyd

Just wondering if you got the problem fixed and if its not too late

I had a similar problem on a comparable model
it was the idler pulley that came apart (look at Fig 1 item 18)
while you are at it change the belt.
