Default Dryer Banging
Model Number: FDE336RES2   Brand: Frigidaire   Age: 5 - 10 years

Hi,

I have a Frigidaire dryer model # FDE336RES2 that has been in storage for a couple of years. After reconnecting everything seems to work fine with the exception of a continuous banging noise from the drum. When the dryer is off and I spin the drum by hand it appears to be in the same spot every turn of the drum.

Any ideas with detailed instructions would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Greg

Default Inspect the dryer

No telling who or what has been living in that dryer while it has been sitting up. I would pop the toptop removal.jpg and remove the front. Get the tub out and inspect the front slides and the rear center bearing. I would remove any lint or dust from inside the dryer and make sure the idler is oiled. Lithium grease is a good thing for the rear bearing.

Got the top and front off no problem. How do you get the belt that's around the tub off? Can't get the tub out with it on right? Also there is a metal plate behind the tub that 3 screws from inside the tub fasten to. The plate is wobbly, is that the way it should be or should it be solid?

Thanks much for your help,

Greg

Default Metal plate should be tight.

You gotta take the idler loose using the access panel in back. Take a note how the idler goes. Once you get it removed grab the belt on top of the drum and yank the belt upwards about 2 inchs using it like a handle. The drum should come on out the front then.

Got it figured out!

Tore everything apart, cleaned and put back together and dryer is working fine.

Thank you very much for your help,

Greg
