Default dryer too hot
Model Number: lec9000pw1   Brand: Whirlpool   Age: 1 - 5 years

The dryer overheats and shuts off. I checked the venting but there is no blockage. Is there some switch that might need replaced? Any help would be appreciated.

Were you able to restart it right away?

Did it make any noises?

Gene.

I would measure the exhaust temperature to see if it shuts off at more than say 160 degrees. If so, you probably have a bad cycling thermostat.

I will try to change the thermostat, but I was told there was more than one. Do you know which one it might be or have a part number? Thanks for the help!

Default location of cycling thermostat? On the blower housing where else

a back of a dryer.jpg on the left is the vent and above that is the thermostat doing its thang registering the air which comes out of the drum.
