Default Dryer thermofuse blown again
Model Number: Performa PYE2000AYW   Brand: Maytag   Age: 5 - 10 years

Appliance Parts from AppliancePartPros.com
My Maytag Performa PYE2000AYW dryer first stopped working, then I found out the thermofuse was gone. So I replaced the fuse with a new one, but it only worked for a minute or two before the new fuse was blown.

Is it some overheating problem? What could be the potential reasons for the problem? Replace heating element?

Thanks in advance for suggestions!

Thanks a lot for the suggestion! I really appreciate it.

So the overheating is definitely due to some blockade of hot air flow? Well, before I replaced the first blown fuse, I did manage to clean up the lint accumulated in the blower area and the vent hose. But I will try to see if there is any lint clog somewhere.

Default If that fuse keeps blowing

You must remove the filter housing and wash it out. Down deep in that housing sits the blower wheel and all around it is a bunch of dirt. Get the housing out of the dryer and blow out the fan area. Then wash out that housing and reinstall it. This will greatly improve the air flow overall.

Default

also check heater first with trouble lamp or flashlight to see if any coil is touching heater housing or very close to housing ,vibration can cause shorting, if necessary remove heater and check carefully all around
