Default How do I remove the back?
Model Number: ferb7800ds0   Brand: Frigidaire   Age: 1 - 5 years

Appliance Parts from AppliancePartPros.com

My Frigidaire dryer is about 3 years old. It stopped heating but otherwise turns, etc. Everyone I consulted said its probably the thermal limiter, which I purchased. After clearing a lint blockage and removing virtually every screw on the back of the dryer, I cannot get the back to actually COME OFF so I can replace this tiny little part. There are no screws downt he right side or the bottom. HELP!

Ok, let's start at the beginning.

1. Put all the screws back in and get the dryer back to the point where you started. You do not access this (or any other basic dryer from the front).

2. Don't know who everyone is you consulted, but I think I can speak for almost all of us who reply on Forum when I state that you cannot diagnose a problem without diving into the machine and testing the components. Since the thermal limiter in your machine is in line with the motor circuit, if it were not working then the motor would not work, and you state that it is. So, while we do not know what is wrong we can pretty much rule out the thermal limiter, but if you want you can test it when you get the machine open.

3. Plug in the machine and use your meter to test whether or not you are getting 120v to each side of the connection block. If so, unplug the machine and open it up.

4. You open this dryer by inserting a putty knife or screw driver in the gap between the top and the front and prying up. This will allow the top to flip up.

5. You can now take off the front and if you take off the back access panel you can release the belt.

6. Use the belt to pull the drum up out of its socket, and then take it out through the front.

7. You can now use your meter to test the components, including the heating element. You will probably find the problem. Replace the part and put things back together.

8. Be sure and clean out the machine, particularly the inside vent, the door vent and then clean the outside vent.

That should do it.
