Dryer was over heating and turning itself off.
I replaced the 150 degree thermostat.
When starting the dryer last night it appeared to work properly.
This morning loaded the dryer with clothes and when I pressed the star button, all it did was make a loud buzzing noise and the drum did not turn.
Am I looking at replacing the motor??

Thanks,

Steve

P.S. I'm still not sure that the thermostat I replaced was a bad one. The other thermostat part #339908 is apparently no longer available.
Any help would be appreciated

Steve,

Most likely the problem is a bad motor and it has nothing to do with any thermostats. If you believe the dryer was overheating then you have to check the exhaust line and the air ducts inside the dryer.

- The part number for the motor is AP3094245

I have a similar problem, the motor made a loud buzzing noise when I tried to start the unit. (I had the front cover off and my ear close to the motor with someone else pushing the button) I used my DVOM to compare the values of the new motor to the old motor before I try to remove the old motor. The values match exactly. Now I am not sure the motor is bad because I expected to find a short to ground or at least a lower resistance value on the old motor. I am not going to actually install the new motor until I can get a bit of advice. Thank you for your assistance.
