Model Number: mdg5500aww Brand: Maytag Age: 5 - 10 years
Our maytag Neptune dryer will not dry clothes completely on sensor dry. When you start the dryer says it has about 17 minutes or so, and the clothes are still damp when done. If you use timed dry, the clothes will dry in about 45 minutes. I checked our vent outside, and it is not clogged with lint. Do you think the sensor in the drum is bad? Thank you, Greg

There are 2 sensor strips, silver in color, on the inside back wall of the dryer. As the clothes dry in automatic that sensor adjust the time accordingly. Check to make sure that those strips are clean and that there is no "debri" on them. If they are clean then you are probably into a thermostat.
