According to the service manual, you should get zero ohm reading (that should be a heater on the thermostat that allows for lower dryer temps) but you really need a wiring diagram to be certain. For some reason the wiring diagrams in the service manual are blank, (see below)

http://www.servicematters.com/maytag.../RS3200001.pdf

so see if you have one on the back or under the console.

i really appreciate the comeback sidfink43.....it does not help tho..i went through the manual you refered to..it's the same as others i've looked at and does not tell me what i need to know..i'm wondering if i can bypass the fabric select switch(temp control) and wire it direct..i only need hot air not fluff or low heat...any idea's?

The short answer to your question is no. Actually the long answer is the same.

A dryer involves high voltage, high amperage and high heat. It is just not something you want to re-engineer as much as it might seem to be an easy and no-risk proposition.

For electrical problems if a wiring diagram is not available I will trace out the wiring, and if I still cannot find the problem I will replace the relevant parts and put in new wiring if I think that is the problem. I would never do a by-pass on my machine at home, and I don't think you should also.

Good luck
