Horrible grinding noise when dryer is running. When I opend the dryer to clean the lint trap there are alot of fine metal grindings in the lint trap and all over the front of the inside of the dryer.

What do i do?

Thank you.

Sounds like your bearing is coming apart and being sucked into the dryer, an unusual occurence (the sucking in, not the failure itself) but one that I assume is possible.

Here is the part.

Part number: AP2142648
Part number: AP2142648

I think on this model you can insert a screw driver or putty knife in the gap between the top and the front near the edges and release the clips that hold the top to the cabinet. The top will flip up and you can now take off the front. If there is a service panel in the back, unscrew it and release the belt. Then use the belt to lift up the drum, take it out, replace the bearing, put it back together and you should be all set.

You can do the removal first to make sure it is the bearing before ordering the parts.
