Default troubleshooting help
Model Number: 110.76520110   Brand: Kenmore   Age: More than 10 years

I have an old Kenmore 220V elec dryer. It stopped dead, will not start. Breakers are OK. Door switch is OK. Apparently has NO thermal fuse that I can find. I believe it is either the motor or timer. Unfortunately timer is no longer available. I was wondering what anyone would recommend as far as testing the timer, and motor. Motor is common, still available (common replacement is). Also, can anyone date it?

Thanks

John

Some progress....

Bought a sears kenmore dryer repair handbook. Doesn't cover this exact timer set-up but some of the general continuity checks seemed to apply. On mine the push to start switch is built into timer, on one shaft. At terminals, between red and yellow, open with timer in off position. closed in run position. TPS terminal to either red or yellow open, pressing start switch, TPS to either red or yellow closed. Seems to be OK?

Looks like either motor or something else. Will Ohm motor next.

I would like to find the correct wiring diagram for this model, and still trying to date it. No thermal fuse means probably a little older.

Checked the motor windings, 2-5 ohms each, which is good. Checked the power cord, was burned, corroded at terminal block. Replaced it. Test ran it with old motor, worked fine. Put back together, running good.
