Hello. My dryer will not start but the timer is ticking. The inside light is not operating and it used to work fine too. The door switch tests godd. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

I would pull the dryer apart and check the thermal fuse on the blower housing, a white plastic disk about 1 inch diameter.

I have found what appears to be a thermostat control (referring to the schematic) at the blower housing cover. It has 4 wires attatched. There are no other discs or wires there so did you mean this item or is the thermal fuse located elsewhere.

On this dryer, the thermal fuse is not on the blower housing, so I don't know where it is. It is wired in between the door switch and ground. That should help you find it.

I would check first,to see if there is a blown fuse or open breaker there might be only 110 volts going to the dryer.Check your fuse panel there should be 240 volts going to the dryer. It sounds like one off the two fuses are blown.

I found the thermal fuse in the area of the heating element housing. Sure enough it had infinite resistance so I replaced it. I also replaced the high limit thermostat as a precaution to not blowing the fuse again, according to the enclosed instruction sheet. The passages were full of old packed lint so the dryer is clean and working great. Thanks very much for the diagnosis as it saved me buying a new one.
