how do i change belt and idol pully on our electric dryer and do i need any special tools,step by step please

Hi Tony

To do this you are going to need to open up the dryer and remove the drum.

1. Insert a screw driver or putty knife in the gap between the top and front near the edges. This will release clips which hold the top to the front and the top will swing up.

2. You should now be able to take off the front, by taking out two screws that hold it on. Disconnect the door switch wires and note how they go.

3. If the belt is still on, reach in and release it by putting pressure on the idler pulley.

4. The drum should now lift off the rear rollers and come out.

You can now replace the belt and idler. Take this opportunity to throughly clean out the dryer, particular the internal exhaust piping and the blower.
