Default Problems with Kenmore Elite
Model Number: unknown   Brand: Kenmore   Age: 5 - 10 years

Hi;

First post here. I have a Kenmore Elite Electric Dryer that has an overheating problem. It appears to run the heating element constantly, regardless of heat setting. I thought I had fixed it by replacing the thermostat and fuse that attach to the heating element plenum. It ran cool for awhile, but started getting hot again after about 6-8 uses. I also noticed that if you unplug the dryer and let it sit for awhile, the problem goes away for about 6-8 uses.

I did check for air blockage, and it moves plenty of air.

It seems to me something needs to fully discharge before it will function properly again. Either that, or some logic in the controls is corrupted and must be reset. Not really sure. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

Sounds like a vent problem to me. Post the model number and we'll take a look.

I have the same problem with my Kenmore. Model # 110.60942990. A little more history with my problem. The timer quit moving and the "End of Cycle" alarm did not work. Heating element always on even at "Fluff-No Heat" setting. The thermistor and timer were replaced and everything worked perfectly for 3 loads. Now back to original symptoms EXCEPT the timer is still working but end of cycle alarm is not working. Thermostat? Motor? Thanks

For Kida035 seems like a bad thermistor, just order a new one at this site.
For dn2318, I would pull heating element out and look for a short to ground.
