Intermintent problem with gas solenoid ignitor starting prior to start button being pushed. Setting of timer will activate the gas valve ignitor (ONLY OCCASIONALLY). New motor, rollers and belt installed a week ago.

Very likely there is a shorted wire which goes from the motor centrifugal switch to the gas valve.

Thanks for the response Gene. Based on the wiring diagram it appears that contact 1M and 2M on the motor switch completes the circuit to the gas valve. Since there is no visible short circuit on the connections could the switch on this new replacement motor be sticking periodically??

Five or even three years ago I will say "NO". Today I'm saying "Who knows?".

Anyway, check the wire first.

You were correct Gene. An inspection of the wires on the motor centrifugal switch revealed one lone copper strand from the 6M wire out of its crimp connector and in close proximity to the 2M wire.
Probable intermitent contact between the two causing the occasional short circuit to the gas valve when timer contacts are closed.
Removed the offending connector and replaced it with an insulated one, making sure there were no strands exposed.
So far so good.
