Question Maytag Dryer No Heat "Fixed Itself"?
Brand: Maytag   Age: 5 - 10 years

Appliance Parts from AppliancePartPros.com

Model: MDET446AYW

My dryer started tumbling with no heat. The drum turned and the fan ran, but no heat was coming out (In hindsight, no glow in the back either). I disassembled the dryer and did an ohm test on the the standard electrical bits (thermal fuse, thermostat, etc.) and all checked out. I removed the heating element to check for breakage and it looked fine. An ohm test from one side of the heating element to the other also checked out. I put everything back together, cleaned out the inside of the dryer of some excess lint, figured I'd try it one more time (we could use it to air fluff dry clothes until I fixed it). And.....VIOLA! It was heating up just fine (now there was glow).

I don't like "fix itself" problems. Nothing moves inside of the dryer that would create a loose connection or anything like that, so I can't imagine what triggered the initial problem nor why it randomly started working after being disassembled and reassembled. Does anyone have any ideas on this magic?
