I am having some electronics issues.
All of these have been happening:

1. Front control panel does not light up at all
2. Front control panel lights up, but does not respond to buttons being pushed
3. Everything works fine and turns off mid cycle and back to 1.
4. Everything works fine and finishes the cycle and back to 1.

I have not been able to find a pattern. Most of the time nothing lights up.

I have no problem soldering and replacing components and wires. I have had no luck finding an actual schematic of the boards (not just a wiring diag).

Anyone have any ideas to fix and/or troubleshoot?

There may be a wiring issue, especially the cable from the control board to the UI.

That is what I thought. I have already determined there is no opens in the wiring between boards with a multimeter.

Very very doubtful you will find a schematic of the main control board. (planned obsolescence)
It sounds as if there is some limited or interrupted contact occurring from the power source to the main control board. Try unplugging all connections to and from the control board, including the power supply (please disconnect power first) and clean the contact and terminals. see pic for example of electric contact cleaner.

I did check all the connections.

I think I found the location of the problem. It does seem that is was the small connector soldered on the UI board coming from the control board. Wiggling the wires showed the connection to be intermittent. I guess when I measured the resistance, the connection was good.
Unfortunately, in the process it completely broke of the UI board. I took it to work and have soldered all those wires directly to the PCB. We'll see how it goes when I get home.
