Our Maytag gas dryer won't heat. Taken off the front panel and checked continuity of the two thermostats, the gas vale solenoid coils (2-pin and 3-pin), and the igniter; all checks were as expected based on other posts to this forum.

The igniter is working fine since it quickly starts glowing orange. It appears that one or both of the gas valves never opens.

Does this mean I have to replace the value unit?

Are there other checks I can perform, such as checking if power is being applied to the coils?

Cheers, Greg.

I felt the coils but they didn't get hot. Decided to replace them anyway (probably a mistake), and still no joy. Nice glowing igniter, but no gas flame.

Any thoughts on what's next?

Connectors. I noticed that the connectors on the coils were coming off far too easily. I twisted the tabs slightly and reconnected. Voila! It's now working. I guess vibration over time made them loose.
