Hello. My frigid wire gallery clothes dryer suddenly got very loud. There is no thumping or grinding, only normal sounds intensified. I changed the felt glide; no help. I ran the unit with only the motor, and it didn't make the loud noise. What else could this be?

A model number would be helpful.

I doubt I will be able to help as you do not have a nise that would point to a part.

Perhaps try turning the drum in the correct direction so you know how much drag is on it. It should turn faily easily.

You may want to try tis on a couple other units so you get a feel for it.

If this is a unit with a single centered rear bearing then it could be the problem.
Often they can dry out and need re-greasing. If this is it be sure to use a high temperature grease.
