Hey fellas-

I have some technical aptitude - I recently replaced the gas burner on my whirlpool WGD9200SQ1- So why haven't I ran it yet?

When I removed the bottom panel on the dryer - there was a piece of foil tape with some heavy tacky black mastic on the bottom of it stuck to the burner (labled funnel on diagram). It ran on an angle down to the bottom of the dryer.

I couldn't find it on any parts diagram - or available for sale anywhere. So I removed it - thinking it must have fallen down from up in the dryer. However, I'm second guessing that decision -

Now i'm wondering if it was a heat shield to protect the drum belt from the heat from the burner? There is also a thermostat or some sort of saftey switch on the outside of the burner tube (*funnel) as well - not sure if it is meant to cover this switch -

Anyone know how this piece of tape should be positioned - and its intended purpose?

Thanks in advance for your help
