I have an old (20 yrs +) Kenmore electric dryer model 110.86670100.
Automatic Fabric care heavy duty model. The timer advances and shuts off properly on the TIMED dry cycle. But does not advance when on automatic fabric care cycle. Thus, I feel the timer motor is OK. What other problems may be causing this: moisture sensor or controller board? Are those easy/cheap fixes. Should I just stick with timed settings?

No moisture sensor or control board on this model. Could be the power resistor inside the control panel next to the timer. Resistor is a black rectangular object with two terminals on it. Disconnect the wires from it and check resistance across the resistor. Should read around 4000-5000 ohms.
