Lights on the control panel are on, light when you open the door comes on. My problem is that the control buttons do not respond to the touch, so even though the lights are on I can't get the dryer to start.

Have you checked the thermal fuse on the blower?
It should be 0 ohms.
If blown be sure to clean/check your vent system as that is the most common cause of it blowing.
