I just moved in recently with a lady who has an old dryer that worked great until last week, when it stopped completely.

I took the sucker apart and cleaned it out. There was 2 pounds of lint and sand stuck near the fan. I also cleaned out the pipe leading outside. The dryer started working again.

Then it started taking a long time to dry.

Now it starts, but it quits after a few minutes.

I imagine that there's some sort of sensor to gauge the heat that either shorted out or is just old and needs to be replaced.

I am a new multimeter user. The only thing I've ever tested with it is the door switch, which had continuity at room temperature.

Where in God's name are the thermostat, heating elements, etc? How do I know which one? Do I just replace them all? The only thing we know right now is that it isn't the motor. On the fluff and fold setting, it runs great.
