Default Whirlpool dryer just stopped, quit!
Model Number: LER5634LQ0   Brand: Whirlpool   Age: 1 - 5 years

Appliance Parts from AppliancePartPros.com
My Whirlpool dryer just stopped. I had a load in and went to check it and the stuff was warm but not completely dry, it hadn't finished the cycle. I pushed the button to turn back on and it won't do a thing. My husband looked at it and can't figure it out either. Could it be the timer or what? It's only five years old.

Hi Linda

It is not very likely that your timer is bad.

These machines have a number of devices which protect against excessive heat in the dryer, which can damage the dryer, or even worse set your house on fire, which is not a good thing.

You will need a multi meter to find the problem.

First you want to make sure your breakers did not trip, so use a meter to see that you are getting 120v to each side of the connection block. Then unplug the machine and test the fuses/thermostats for continuity. You access them by taking off the back.

Here are some pics that you show you what you are looking for.

Replace the open components and you should be back in business.

Hi Sid,
Thanks for the reply. I showed my husband what your reply was and he'll look into it. We did check the breakers etc., all of that is fine. The diagram is helpful to find the fuse. Hopefully that's all it is.
I will let you know how things go.
Thanks,
LindaJ
