When I push the on button, you hear motor but drum does not turn. If I hold on button and turn drum manually it will turn. Would this be a problem with the motor or the drum?

Could be the dryer belt; on my Maytag it runs around the drum and motor spindle with a tensioner to keep it tight.

When you say it will turn I am assuming that you mean that it will start rotating the drum.

Try turning the drum in the correct direction. It should turn fairly easily. If not it could be that the drum is putting too much load on the motor. You may want to try this on a couple other units just to get a feel for it. If it is hard to turn run your fingers along the edge of the drum to frame area to see if something is jammed in there . Be careful as it may be sharp. Bra wires are infamous for this. Though normally you will get a scraping sound.

Another possibility is that the centrifugal switch for the motor's start winding is not closing when the motor is stopped. Clean the motor just to be sure that lint etc. is not causing a problem.

Could be that the motor is toast.
