I have been having this issue now for months and finally to the dryer apart and found a couple of things that might be the problem but not totally sure. One of the dryer glides on the front panel is broke and would that make the drum grind down into the blower housing and make the squealing noise? It seemed that the noise was coming from the back so I looked it over and it seems to be the idler lever assembly. Is there suppose to be side to side play on the pulley? Mine has about 3/8" where the pulley can go side to side. My wife would love it if you could help. Thank you so much.

Yes it can cause screeching. Replace both of them.

It seemed that the noise was coming from the back so I looked it over and it seems to be the idler lever assembly.
Can also cause a racket. Not sure on the side to side slop but most of then do have some. Take it apart and check it for wear.

Also check the rear support rollers for wear and bearing slop.

Spin the motor to see if it's bearing is worn and causing a problem.
