Hi there,

Like many others, I am having a problem with the timer not advancing. This has been going on for months as I don't think I have adequately diagnosed the problem. First off...I am sure this is actually a Whirlpool made dryer. I have tested the timer with a multimeter and it tested OK...no infinity reading...you can hear the timer working but it simply does not advance on auto or timed cycles with or without wrinkle prevent on. I also took the vent hose hose off and ran it...no luck...still no movement. I can hear the timer stop when I open the door and start when I close it...but the son of a gun won't move. Otherwise...it heats up fine...drys clothes fine. I would hate to pay a hundred bucks for a timer and have the same issue. I would also hate to burn the house down. Is there anything else I can check with my multimeter?
Thanks!! Happy Thanksgiving!

Any suggestions? Anything else I should test before ordering a timer?

Thanks!

Since you can hear the timer running you know that it's motor is receiving power so odds are high that it has a mechanical problem preventing it from advancing.

I would replace it.

AppliancePartsPros will let you return this part if it does not solve your problem.

Thanks denman. I will order one. Now that you mention it. It does seem a little clunky when I turn it.
Thanks for you help.
