I have a Gibson gas dryer. When I turn the start knob, I hear a hum but the drum does not turn. Any suggestion is wha is wrong and how to fix it?

The motor is likely faulty but it is possible that something is in the blower. Can you manually turn the tub or is it very difficult?

Can you remove the lint filter and have a look at the very bottom of the filter housing? That is where the blower wheel is. Do you see anything at the very bottom, like a sock or rag, that may be keeping the blower from turning? If not, the motor is likely faulty. Let me know what you see in the housing.

Now I have another twist. The dryer starts a couple of times and then won't start. If I leave it for several hours it may or may not start again. I also checked the filter housing. There wasn't any rag or sock, but I did have lint (which I removed, dryer won't start.)

I am replacing the motor. How do I get the blower wheel off of the motor shaft?
