Model Number: IES5000RQ0 Brand: Whirlpool Age: 1 - 5 years
Hello-
Our 1 1/2 year old dryer will no longer provide heat. Power and drum are working. My husband wants to fix it and I agree that I would like to save money on the repair. But, I would like your expert opinion as to what he needs to replace. My inexperienced logic tells me that it could be the thermostadt, heating element or the cycling thermostadt. What do you suggest? Please provide detailed instructions on what to check first etc. as I've noticed such great explainations on postes/ replies. Thank you so much for your help! I want my dryer back! Signed, 13 loads and waiting Ads By Google Related Models |

First check or confirm that you have 220-240VAC at the outlet. If you don't have a meter to do the checking, go to the breaker (should be a double or doubled 30Amp breaker. Flip it off then on a couple of times and see if you get heat in the dryer. Sometimes, for various reasons, one part of the breaker will trip. This should reset it.

To get to the heating element on most of these dryers you remove the back dust cover:
1. Hi Limit (small limit upper right hand side of this pic) the most frequent problem if dryer RUNS but no heat. 2. Heater assembly. 7. Control thermostat(s). 5. Fuse(350F), if blown(open) the dryer will NOT run. 4. Heater element (remove the heater and look for breaks in the coil if ye ain't got a meter. You want to have the unit unpluged when back here.
