Default Dryer runs about thirty seconds and shuts off, is unpredictable
Model Number: 110.60992990   Brand: Kenmore   Age: 1 - 5 years

Appliance Parts from AppliancePartPros.com

Dryer has heat, motor sounds fine. However, when I push the start button, it is almost like it is teasing me as to how long it will run. I have to wait to see if it is going to shut off on me. Usually, it will shut off after about 30 seconds and this will repeat 2 or more times until it finally stays on for the full cycle. The crazy thing is that sometimes it won't behave like that at all. Sometimes I can push the start button and it will run a full cycle just fine with no problem. What in the world might I need to focus on to remedy this situation? Thanks!

Here are your parts
Parts for Kenmore Dryer 11060992990 - AppliancePartsPros.com

See the attachment for a tech sheet.
I could not find one for your exact unit. The tech sheet is for a Canadian model but yours sill be a close match.

This will be a pain to find as it is intermittent.

When it shuts off can you restart it right away or do you have to wait a while before it restarts?

If you have to wait then it is probably a motor problem.
It's thermal protect has opened and you have to wait for the motor to cool down and the protect then resets.

If it re-starts right away.

Check the connections at the terminal strip to ensure that they are all OK. Be sure to unplug the unit when doing this.
While it is running wiggle the line cord. It may be a problem in the cord or with the wall receptacle.
Could be that the L1 side of the line is dropping out/bad connection so the motor stops.
If OK
Unplug the unit and swap the motor and heater relays.
I believe they are the same but double check this just to be sure.
If it now runs OK, replace the relay.

With the unit unplugged check all connections up in the control console.

Check the board for a cold solder joint.
Cold solder joints are often a duller silver and may have pin holes.
Gently wiggle a component./connector while looking at the solder side of the board to see if the part's leg moves in the solder.

Default Kenmore Dryer Issue

Thank you very much. I took a day off to give your suggestions a try. The dryer will start right back up again after it turns off with no problem and all sounds normal. I'll let you know what happens.

Default Ok I think I found a problem but I need you to see the pic of the electrical board.

I'm attaching a picture of a place on the electrical component board for you to see. It looks like something burned. Might that be the issue?

Yes it looks like that is a problem the large resistor has been getting too hot.

They do not publish circuit board schematics so I cannot say what this resistor is for.

I replaced the "motherboard" (for lack of the correct word) with part W101165564-R. Found it from a company called CoreCentric Solutions on ******** for $71.88. It fixed the problem. Thanks!
