Appliance Parts from AppliancePartPros.com

At first our washer / dryer stacked combo decided to just stop working in the middle of a load. So first thing we figured was it over-heated. We waited till the next day and tried again, No power, no light inside dryer drum, nada. So we called our repair guy who came out and checked the power and after about half an hour said it was probably a grounding issue.

Next day I double up our ground wires (now our lights don't flicker woohoo!) but still no washer or dryer. So I dove into manuals and online help and proceeded in testing the thermostats, fuses, everything except the motor since the plastic fan on it is threaded and seams stuck in place, making near impossible to get it out without taking apart the entire machine. I then vacuumed everything off, put it back together and gave it another go (Insanity at it's best) it was a no go.

So just to make sure if I had to call the repair guy again, I went as far as to replace the 30 amp breaker. Well now I thought I had something, The dryer drum light comes on, but now a whole slew of other issues. If I turn the washer on rinse the water starts, but if the dryer door gets shut the washer turns off. The washer also will not go into spin cycle with the dryer door open or closed. So now I have a few gallons of water in the washer and even more confused. I only removed the wires needed to do testing then put them right back so I am pretty sure nothing got switched around.

Any ideas?

Thank in advance.

Default Update

After having the repair guy come out again, and once again telling me it was power related I decided to do a bit more testing.

Here is where I am so far.

If I turn the washer on to any settings and pull out the start / stop button, I used spin as my main test. Then Turn the dryer on any cycle (I used cool down since no vent is connected at the moment) Then hit the start button. Both the washer and dryer function.

However, if I open either door, or turn off either the washer with the start / stop switch, both washer and dryer stop. They will start back up again if I press in the washers start / stop button, then press the start button on the dryer.

They will also start automatically if the washer start button is pulled out (start position) and I turn the dryer knob to a run setting.

At this point I am pretty sure it's probably a bad switch or other electrical item inside the unit itself and not a problem of amperage.

Sadly after taking the control panel screws out and lowering it so I could see inside I was unsure which items to test first to keep from throwing money at it till it works.

Thanks again.
