Model Number: 655.17693200 Brand: Kenmore Age: 1 - 5 years
The dishwasher doesn't clean the dishes and after a cycle the soap dispenser has half the soap left in the compartment. The interior of the washer has residue or soap film troughout.
The washer runs through the entire cycle yet it seems that it takes 20 minutes longer than it did before. When the diswasher discharges into the side outlet of the garbage disposal I can feel that the water is luke warm at best. I know this washer has a food chopper or disposal in it. Is it possible that the water flow is has less pressure because it is clogged? Or could it be the element is bad? How can I check? Thanks, Stephen / Ads By Google Related Models |

Here is the tech sheet
http://www.servicematters.com/docs/w...%208537797.pdf The dishwasher doesn't clean the dishes and after a cycle the soap dispenser has half the soap left in the compartment. The interior of the washer has residue or soap film troughout. Sounds like a low water problem or pumping problem. First I would check that the unit is getting enough water. Tech sheet says it should fill to just above the filter screen. If not the filter screen on the input side of the water valve may be partially clogged. Next I would check/clean the pump filter etc. see the tech sheet. The washer runs through the entire cycle yet it seems that it takes 20 minutes longer than it did before. When the dishwasher discharges into the side outlet of the garbage disposal I can feel that the water is luke warm at best. If the water is low or not pumping correctly it will not heat up properly. This will also extend the cycle time I know this washer has a food chopper or disposal in it. Is it possible that the water flow is has less pressure because it is clogged? Yes Or could it be the element is bad? Doubtful that this is the problem because even cooler water should flush out the soap from the dispenser. How can I check? Heater and hi-limit thermostat can be checked with a meter.

Well you were correct! The chopper assembly was in pieces so the pump wasn't sending water through at all.
Since I changed the chopper we have full force water pressure & the soap dispenser is completely clean. When the water drains into the disposal it is warm, not hot. We run the hot water a few minutes before we begin a wash. There is also a little soap residue on the dishes. Any thoughts on this? Thanks, your help is greatly appreciated. |

Sounds like the temperature boost is not working.
Check that the heat element os on during dry. If not remove power from the unit and check the element and the high-limit thermostat. If it does dry then I would check the thermistor if your unit has one.
