Hello all. I have a FSG447GHS0 that doesn't dry clothes. Upon starting, the gas flows, the igniter glows, and I get a blue flame but it stays lit for only 6-7 min, and then switches off and will not light up again. I have tested the following parts using a digital multimeter:

Thermostat - This has 4 prongs. Two are close to each other and are arranged vertically. The resistance across them is 2.96 @ 20k. The other two are probably 3-4 times farther apart than the first two and are arranged horizontally. The resistance across them is 0.100 @ 2k.

Igniter - 0.056 @ 2k.

Flame sensor - I can't get a constant reading. The values range from 0.002 to 0.210 @ 2k.

Solenoids -
2-pronged one: 1.347 @ 2k.
3-pronged one: Reading across prong #1 and #2 is 1.450 @ 2k; reading across prong #1 and #3 is 0.585 @ 2k.

Hello,

If the igniter glows but there is no flame then the problem most likely is a bad gas valve coils. Even if they did pass the continuity test they can fail later under the heat stress.

Hi Gene. Thank you for the reply. I did some follow-up using a video camera and tripod: Long story short, the dryer is trying to fire up again. The igniter glows for 10 sec or so once per minute after the initial flame goes out. Is that further evidence of bad solenoids?

The first number is the time stamp in the video:

0:20 After about 20 sec, ignitor flows and flame is nice a and blue + heat in the dryer.
4:20 Flame goes out
5:45 Lighter glows for about 10 sec and stops. No flame.
6:45 Lighter glows for about 10 sec and stops. No flame.
7:49 Lighter glows for about 10 sec and stops. No flame.
8:51 Lighter glows for about 10 sec and stops. No flame.
9:45 Lighter glows for about 10 sec and stops. No flame.
10:45 Lighter glows for about 10 sec and stops. No flame.

19:20 Lighter glows for about 10 sec and stops. No flame.
20:15 Lighter glows for about 10 sec and stops. No flame.
