Hello,

I have a whirlpool dryer that stopped working this week. I can set the timer (and hear it ticking) but when I push the start button and I get nothing. The light comes on in the dryer and I know it's getting power but the motor isn't responding.

I started by replacing the thermal fuse and that didn't work. Anyone have any other ideas?

Thanks,
Jason

To get to the heating element on most of these dryers you remove the back dust cover:

1. Hi Limit (small limit upper right hand side of this pic)

the most frequent problem if dryer RUNS but no heat.

2. Heater assembly. 7. Control thermostat(s).

5. Fuse(350F), if blown(open) the dryer will NOT run. 4. Heater element.

Thanks for the reply, Sublime. I'll take a look at the heating element for that fuse.

Forgot to ask, am I looking for a fuse similar to the Thermal Fuse I replaced earlier?

Look for the skinny white one with 2 small wires mounted on the blower housing. The small wires carry no heating current, they connect with the door switch and when that fuse blows it is as if you opened the door.

I have a Whirlpool GEQ9800PW2 dryer and the start button does not start the dryer. It is getting power but the dryer never starts. It does not start on any of the settings.
Thanks.

Thanks. I'm having problems getting the back panel off. Do you know if I need to go in via the front panel on this model? Whirlpool Gold GEQ9800PW2
I removed all the screws but it does not budge and seems fused to the side panels.

1.jpgYou must drop the kickplate on the GEQ9800PW2 model. If this particular dryer dies you must replace the duct fuse mounted behind the filter bladder.
Here is a video showing how:
Accessing the princess model

After he removed the filter housing the white fuse on top of blower that is what blows. Due to the lint buildup I imagine.
