Hi All~ I thought I'd save my self some money & the landfill by fixing my older GE gas dryer, guessing it's about 20yrs old. Initial reason for tearing apart the dryer is that it didn't heat at all, prior to that it only heated on med. heat, high heat didn't work.

Once I finally figured out how to remove the drum - old school, requiring the removal of E clip in the back - (p.i.a.) I replaced the faulty ignitor switch. After putting back together I found a NEW problem.

*New PROBLEM: When using high & med heat it trips the breaker switch. I checked for loose wires but didn't find any.

Thanks for any support.

P.s. the temperature selector was not found to be fautly.

Hi Gene, Thanks for your quick reply. I replaced the Round ignitor (I called it the ignitor swictch) part #717 from the diagram you attached & I had the appliance store guys check the Switch part #35 - they said it was good & not the problem.

Hi,

Unfortunately I could not find electrical schematic for this dryer and I'm not able to provide any accurate troubleshooting instructions. If you do have such schematic and can post it here, it might help.

Gene.
