The old element wire burnt in two, I twisted the wire together and only used it while I could keepp an eye on it til I could afford a new element and it worked fine. bought a new element and installed it but the new one (part #8573069) wont heat up. thought it may be faulty so I put the old one back in and it heats up even though repaired. ordered another new element and it wont heat either, Am I missing something? thanks in advance!

Hi.

You may have a bad relay in the control bord.
Disconnect both (Red and V) wires from the heater, turn on the dryer for the high heat and check for 120VAC from each wire (R and V) to the ground (you will need the multimeter). If there is no proper voltage - replace the control board Part number: W10111616
Part number: W10111616

Post the results.

I'll check it with my voltmeter but wouldnt my old element not work either if it was a relay? when I twist the wires together on the old one it still heats up, probably not the safest thing in the world but it heats up and turns red. the new one doesnt.

Hi.

The new element will have less resistance, plus three is two heat relays in the control board, because the heater has two strands. We need to go step by step to find the problem.

Simon.
